Are histomorphologic changes in the fimbrial ends more to blame for primary epithelial ovarian carcinomas than initially thought?

Objective: To investigate the relationship between primary epithelial ovarian tumors and histomorphologic changes in fimbrial ends (FEs) of fallopian tubes. Materials Methods: Twenty-eight serous carcinomas (SCs) 12 non-serous (NSC) were studied. Ovarian concomitant invasive FEs labeled with PAX8, WT-1 Calretinin. Results: Eighty-six percent SCs high grade (HG), 14% low (LG). 71% (85% HG, 15% LG) had FEs. Serous tubal intraepithelial carcinoma (STIC) was seen 29% (75% 25% LG), all The presence statistically significant (p=0.03). 33% NSCs concomitantly 67% endometrioid tumors, clear cell endometriosis. 50% mucinous benign Brenner Walthard nest. Except for carcinomas, displayed phenotype (Calretinin-/PAX8+). Conclusion: results our study suggest that, STIC are not only limited to HGSCs, but can also be LGs. could a site origin NSCs, however, future studies more cases needed.
